FAQ's

Please reach us at connect@wellrootedcounseling.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Overthinking is often the mind’s attempt to create safety.

For many people, especially those who grew up in environments where emotions were unpredictable or needs were minimized, the nervous system learns to stay highly alert.

The mind begins scanning for possible problems, replaying conversations, or trying to anticipate how others might react.

While this pattern once served a protective purpose, it can eventually lead to anxiety, exhaustion, and difficulty trusting your own instincts.

Therapy can help you understand the deeper roots of overthinking while developing tools to help your nervous system feel more grounded and at ease.

Many people feel confused or frustrated by this experience. From the outside, life may appear stable or successful, yet internally there is still a sense of tension, worry, or unease.

Anxiety is not always about current circumstances. Often it reflects patterns that developed earlier in life—especially in environments where emotional needs were not fully supported or where stress was chronic.

The nervous system can remain in a state of vigilance long after the original circumstances have changed.

Therapy can help bring awareness to these patterns and support your nervous system in developing a greater sense of safety, regulation, and ease.

Many people wonder whether their concerns are “serious enough” to bring to therapy. In reality, therapy isn’t only for moments of crisis.

You might benefit from therapy if you notice:

• constant overthinking or difficulty quieting your mind
• feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions
• anxiety that doesn’t seem to match what’s happening in your life
• difficulty relaxing or feeling truly at ease
• repeating patterns in relationships that leave you feeling unseen or drained
• feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure what you truly want

Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand these patterns, and develop a more grounded and compassionate relationship with yourself.

This is such a therapist answer...but...the "need" is determined by you, your goals, and our collaborative wisdom.

Depending on what you hope to gain from therapy right now, and the depth of the work you wish to do, we may see each other for 3-6 months with a targeted goal, or choose to meet with varying regularity for years.
